Out of Time (DC-JSA)

Synopsis:
Jakeem Thunder and Johnny Thunderbolt are asked to come and help by someone who appears in Jakeem's room through a glowing doorway.

In the timestream, Rick Tyler is attempting to replace his father at the Vanishing Point, where 3 of the original members of the JSA were killed in battle by Extant. As Rex and the JSA members pursue Rick, Per Degaton appears and thanks them for fracturing the time stream and giving him a chance.

Rick is stopped short of the Vanishing point, where he watches Atom die, then his father and the others leap to the attack. He sees Tyler stop time and take his father to the lab at the Timepoint, and is preparing to take his place when the rest of the JSA arrives. As Rex and Rick each try to fight their way to being the one to die, Tyler realizes that there is a way to save both of them. He gives Rex the hourglass from his chest, then sends them both back to his timeship, using a hologram to change his appearance to take Rex's place fighting Extant.

In Kahndaq, Atom-Smasher is feeling uneasy about the killing he is having to do in support of Black Adam. As he looks at a picture from an earlier time, the same man that appeared to Jakeem shows up in his room and says he needs Atom Smasher's help, the Thunderbolt couldn't stop Degaton. He reveals that he is Rip Hunter, and the Justice Societies need help.
