Letters Column: Avengers Assemble!
Synopsis:
The Berserker is rampaging through Italy, destroying army regiments. He plans to sell his services as the ultimate warrior to the highest bidder. The Avengers bury the Shadow King, then Rachel shows them the Pool of Memories, which tells them the history of the berserker. He was a Cro-Magnon man who was chased into a cave which no one had come out from alive before. Instead of dying, like the others, the radiation gave him great power, great rage, and immortality. He became a soldier for hire. He was so powerful that whoever hired him became rulers of an empire. He eventually sold his services to beings from other planets, coming in contact with advanced technology in the process. Now that he is free, he plans to kill and destroy for pay, as it gives him a purpose. The Avengers know they must stop him. They find him in the Italian countryside. The Avengers have seemingly been defeated, when Wonder Man, with the Wasp providing a distraction, grabs the medallion on the Berserker's chest (a gift given by the Shadow King to Rachel, until the Berserker took it from her) and opens it. It sucks the Berserker into another dimension, and the Wasp destroy it so he can never come back. Wonder Man had deduced that the gem which the Shadow King gave Rachel was no mere gift, and he was also able to figure out that it only worked at sunrise and sunset, since that is when the Shadow Lord came into this dimension.
