Superman saves Kyle Rayner from the clutches of Mongul. Kyle hopes that he can prove how worthy a hero he is by defeating Mongul in front of Superman.

Mongul is surprised that Kyle has no yellow immunity like Hal Jordan did. With Superman's help, he defeats Mongul.

Superman tells Kyle about Hal Jordan and the recent destruction of Coast City. Kyle realizes that Ganthet must be one of the Guardians of the Universe.

Major Force, who has acquired a green disk from the homeless man who witnessed Ganthet's visit to Kyle, learns that Kyle has a girlfriend named Alex DeWitt.
