A detailed account of Batman's first year as Gotham's vigilante protector. In his year, he strikes up a relationship with Lieutenant James Gordon and begins to establish himself as a force to be reckoned with. Synopsis: Taking the bat crashing through his window as a sign, Bruce Wayne fashions a suit of armor in the likeness of a bat. Taking his war to the streets, the Batman quickly becomes an enemy of the Gotham City Police Department, but young James Gordon has a feeling about the Batman, as he poses less of a threat to the city than the GCPD itself.
Synopsis: Finding himself cornered in an abandoned building, Batman must face an army of Gotham City police officers intent on bringing the vigilante to justice. Frustrated, the Batman fights his way to freedom, becoming gravely injured in the process. Meanwhile, Gordon decides he's had enough and sets out to clean up the GCPD by himself.
Synopsis: Jim Gordon and Batman meet face to face for the first time, realizing that they are not enemies, but are both fighting the same war. Jim Gordon takes to the police department, turning in several corrupt offices, drawing the ire of the rest of the department. Meanwhile, a strange new figure calling himself "The Joker" has arrived in Gotham City, so Gordon has a feeling that the Batman is needed.
