Synopsis: Ursa Graatz is green, ugly, and impoverished. Her son Emile looks similar, but her baby, Malorna, is fair-skinned and blonde, so she leaves her on the doorstep of Caleb and Norma Hummel.
Norma has always wanted a child, but the adoption agency will not allow it on account of the couple being too old. Norma becomes attached to Malorna, whom she calls Charlotte, after her mother. Charlotte has an enormous appetite and becomes violent, especially when eating, and starts to resemble her mother.
When Mrs. Graatz comes to the door for Charlotte, Norma doesn't want to leave her, so she allows the whole family to stay, but they take over the house, and Mrs. Graatz threatens to accuse the Hummels of kidnapping if they are not allowed to stay...
