In 2006, Hero Initiative board member Brian Pulido came up with an idea to take the variant cover idea to a unique extreme, with 100 unique covers on Ultimate Spider-Man #100. Over breakfast one day at Comic-Con International: San Diego, Marvel Comics Publisher Dan Buckley agreed.
Lists were made, artists were contacted, and FedEx made a lot of money. When the dust cleared, 100 great, new, and original covers were created for The Hero Initiative. The original were auctioned off at various conventions and Internet auctions. Now, they can all be seen in one place, in the tome you hold in your very hands.
