Deathstroke kidnaps Carol, saying he was hired to make sure she was safe.

Arisia learns that Predator is a Maltusian demon who seeks to destroy the Guardians, the Zamarons, and the Controllers. He had possessed Carol in order to be closer to Star Sapphire.

Carol releases Star Sapphire in order to defeat Predator. After he is vanquished, they all realize that Sapphire is pregnant. The baby was part of Predator's plan against the Maltusian legacy. Sapphire returns to Carol, saying she will reappear when it is time to give birth.
