Robert Carter Scholz grew up in Tenafly, New Jersey and graduated from Tenafly High in 1971. Scholz was a regular writer for THE COMICS JOURNAL in the 1980s, providing reviews of comic books and especially science fiction. Scholz is himself the author of several short stories as well as PALIMPESTS (with Glenn Harcourt)in 1984; KAFKA AMERICANA (with Jonathan Lethem) in 2001; RADIANCE: A NOVEL in 2002 and THE AMOUNT TO CARRY: STORIES in 2004. Scholz has also written for the television series DARKROOM (1981) and for THE NEW TWILIGHT ZONE (the 1986 episode "A Small Talent For War").
