Born January 11, 1979, Steve Uy grew up on Transformers and was devastated as a child when the show ended its run. Seeking to find solace in another production, Steve tried watching all sorts of other programs, but everything sucked in the early 90's. He tried collecting pens, but that got old fast. Then one day he picked up Batman Adventures #2 in a local Price Rite and later X-Men Adventures #1. At only $1.25 per issue, it was a very affordable new hobby, and served Steve well.
Then comic book prices soared, and that sucked.
Steve studied Fine Arts in high school for 3 years as part of a Fine Arts program. It was there that it was beat into his head that everything was an art form, except for "cartooning art," because that wasn't abstract expressionism, nor did it come from "real life." And so Steve graduated high school and went to the School of Visual Arts in NY, because it was one of the only colleges Steve knew of that offered Cartooning as a major. Steve wanted to rebel and become a cartoonist, and create comic books. And in studying how to become a cartoonist, Steve found that keeping up with his comic book subscription was too difficult while in college, so he stopped reading comic books.
In his last year at SVA, Steve finally got around to playing around with the photoshop program. It was much easier, and cleaner, than paints. And there was no cleanup involved. Thus, Steve liked photoshop. A few months later, Steve and his friends graduated SVA. On the last day of classes, they partied at a bar, where one of his graduating classmates introduced him to her boyfriend, Mike Marts.
A few days later, Steve left the Marvel offices with his first gig, 2 pinups for the Marvel Millenial Visions 2001 books. Then about a month later, cover work for Iceman. Then, a few months later, Marvel asked Steve to create a new series for them. Steve came up with Eden's Trail.
As Steve was nearing completion of Eden's Trail, he decided to rethink his priorities, and decided that he needed to create something that he had full control of. He submitted a proposal for his pet project, Feather, to Image. Image responded, and Steve realized he needed to start promoting the book. And so he created a website.
