Cross (Marvel)
Real Name:
Search for 'Cross (Marvel)' on Amazon

Bio:
One of the leaders of Arms of Salvation, a black market organ trading organization, where organs were taken from living people to donate to folks that could pay the highest price.

Cross himself went out on a snatch and grab operation one afternoon to capture the target known as Meg Fallon. Unfortunately for Cross, Meg was friends with Firestar. Firestar managed to prevent Meg's capture by defeating Cross and one of his mercenaries.

While this was happening, The White Queen, who had trained Firestar for years to be an assassin for The Hellfire Club before she learned the truth and escaped, sent Firestar's file to Freedom Force, the group who was capturing powerful mutants and forcing them to register with the government. Mystique, along with Avalanche and Spiral attacked Firestar in her house later that night. The battle spilled into the streets where Firestar's father, Bart Jones was severely injured by Spiral. Firestar managed to escape Freedom Force and get her father to the hospital where the doctor informed her that he would need a new lung and kidneys as they were badly damaged. One of the members of Arms of Salvation, Malcolm, worked at the hospital, and realizing the situation, called Cross and his partner Fitch to let them know the situation. They promised Firestar the new organs for her father if she could bring them Mystique, as her shape shifting powers could be of use to them in their operation.

Firestar was able to capture Mystique and deliver her to Cross and Fitch, but when she declined to join their operation, Cross tried to kill her. The remaining members of Freedom Force busted in just in time to save Firestar and together they were able to free Mystique, stop Cross (who ended up being betrayed by Fitch) and free Meg Fallon and her father, whom Arms of Salvation had kidnapped while Firestar was busy trying to save her father's life.

Firestar's father was able to recover through normal and legal means, and Mystique, originally wanting to recruit Firestar to Freedom Force but realizing it would be impossible for her and Spiral to work together after what went down between them, registered her as deceased so that she could live a normal life (which didn't last too long as she joined The New Warriors soon after).

In his defeat, it appeared that Cross was killed, but it was never truly specified.

Notes:
*The names of Cross and his partner and fellow head of Arms of Salvation were mixed up at least a few times during the Firestar storyline, "Life During War Time" that ran through six issues of Marvel Comics Presents. The names were thankfully stated correctly enough times to properly identify each character.
