Bliss Reynolds learned to speak Mandarin as a baby from hearing a soap opera in that language, to the astonishment of her parents. She attended school in a United Nations program that developed her skills as a linguist.

Her parents died while she was young, leaving her younger brother, Tate, in her care, and, at 23, working as an unappreciated linguist for the U.S. Department of Defense San Francisco Office. When she translates and speaks aloud the words of objects from another planet, she summons the Battle Beasts to Earth.

After Vorin, Merk, and Gruntos, three Battle Beasts who wish to bring an end to mindless fighting, help her to flee from the other Beasts, she begins an uneasy alliance with them, fully becoming their ally when Vorin reveals that his father created the Dread Weapons as a Praxis of Power, but used them to violent purpose.

Dr. Richard Ullin, the boss who ignored her, uses the gauntlets, one part of the full body armor the dread weapons together form, he becomes so deranged with power that he continues to refuse to listen to her, so, speaking the Beasts' language she turns them off.

Seeing Dr. Ullin's behavior, Vorin sees that he cannot trust himself with the Praxis of Power, tells Bliss to put them on, and persuades her to return with them to the home world of the Battle Beasts.
