Generate powerful fields of bioelectricity, bionic claws channel his energy into shock bolts or high-voltage fields of electrical energy.

Randall Darby was discovered and recruited by Magneto to become one of his Mutant Force lackeys. Taking the original code-name of Shocker, Darby changed it to Paralyzer when the Mutant Force became the Resistants.

The Resistant's protest against the United States' Mutant Registration Act was cut short by a clash with then-Captain America John Walker. Later, the Resistants reverted back to their Mutant Force identities and costumes and soon after clashed with the New Warriors.

After the Sentinels destroyed, Paralyzer, again called the Shocker, helped Toad and other mutants create a statue of Genosha's former ruler Magneto.

Shocker was depowered during the M-Day and the energies that he used to control were then drawn to The Collective.
