Commander Shogar Tok

Search for 'Commander Shogar Tok' on Amazon

Tok was a Separatist commander from Brentaal IV who led the battle on that planet against the Republic forces during the Clone Wars.

From his perspective, he was a civil war leader. He undoubtedly viewed himself in a noble lighta revolutionary spearheading a movement against a corrupt Republic-aligned government.

Brentaal IV was of interest to both sides during the Clone Wars, due largely to its access to key hyperspace lanes. Thus, Tok, who would have otherwise been a fairly minor player, briefly came to the fore of galactic events.

His involvement with Count Dooku was almost certainly one of political expedience. He was not shown to know anything about the "darker side" of the former Jedi. He was merely using Dooku for military assistance as much as Dooku was trying to secure access to Brentaal IV's hyperspace lanes.

The Republic saw the tactical threat this posed, and thus sent in their own troops, led by Jedi generals. However, while they might have seen the point in securing Brentaal IV in terms of the larger galactic conflict, Republic forces on the ground saw little point in opposing him, so far as Brentaal IV was concerned. Should they kill him, they mused, Brentaal IV would still be lost in spirit to the Republic. Tok had been far too successful in his propaganda campaign against the Republic-aligned planetary leadership for most of the citizens to be a willing part of the Republic any longer.
