Scott Fischer

Search for 'Scott Fischer' on Amazon

Powers:
Scott Fischer's body constantly generated excess heat that he released through his hands; for instance, Scott could melt a tine can he was holding within seconds. Fischer could not prevent himself from radiating this intense heat and therefore wore protective gloves of an unknown nature at all times except when he wished to give off the heat. It has not been revealed how the gloves functioned to prevent the heat from affecting things around Fischer. Fischer himself was not harmed by the heat he generated.

Weaknesses:
Fischer suffered from leukemia. It went into remission, but came back during his tenure on the Doom Patrol.

Bio:
Scott Fischer grew up in New Jersey, where his father managed an oil refinery. When Scott was a child, his father would sometimes take him along on business trips.

When Scott was four, his father took him to a toxic waste dumping site. Bored, Scott wandered away from his father and began playing around some leaking toxic waste barrels. Scott ended up covered with waste and apparently swallowed some of it.

At first the waste seemingly had no effects on Scott, but a few years later his metabolism sped up in such a way that Scott began generating intense heat, which he released through his hands.

Celsius learned about Scott's power and invited him to join her team of adventurers, the Doom Patrol. Scott accepted. When the alien Dominators set of the "Gene Bomb" on Earth, Scott became ill (like all metahumans) and died.

Notes:
The codename "Blaze" was selected for him in the letters column of Doom Patrol #18, but was only ever used in The Doom Patrol Sourcebook: Moonshot for the DC Heroes Role-Playing Module by Mayfair Games and co-written by Paul Kupperberg. Created by Paul Kupperberg and Erik Larsen.
