Yango (Kryptonian Gorilla)(Earth-1)
Real Name:
Search for 'Yango (Kryptonian Gorilla)(Earth-1)' on Amazon

Powers:
Literate and vocal, with a genius-level intellect. Speaks Kryptonian. Even on Krypton, had super strength. Put Yango and Superman under a red sun and Yango would probably win.

Weaknesses:
On Earth, Kryptonite.

Bio:
Sent to Earth by his Kryptonian trainer, An-Kal, this gorilla was already super-simean before leaving the doomed planet. Once arriving in Kenya, he not only was adopted by the local population, but became their leader. He organized them into a society based around an underground Ape City. He believes himself superior to humans, and because of this was not immediately impressed with Superboy, whom he mistook as human. Eventually, though, the two did work together to imprison some poachers.

Notes:
The fate of Yango in the post-Crisis DCU has never been revealed, although Byrne would certainly be of the opinion that there was exactly one capsule that ever left Krypton. In the post-Infinite Crisis DCU, though, there would seem to be a little more wiggle room on the question of the total number of Kryptonian survivors.
Not to be confused with King Krypton, although the two are exceedingly similar.
