An - Kal (Earth-1) Search for 'An - Kal (Earth-1)' on eBay Bio: Anthropologist who worked with Kryptonian gorillas to enhance their genetic code. The fruit of his labors is almost certainly Yango, a super-powered gorilla, whom he sent to Kenya just as Krypton exploded. His hope was that his genetic manipulation would then be introduced into Earth's gorilla population. Notes: Despite the potentially sinister nature of genetic manipulation, An-Kal has not, to date, been portrayed as a "mad scientist", but rather a colleague of Jor-El, who was one of the few to believe Jor-El's warning of impending doom. Of course he never really lived long enough to deal with implications of a super-intelligent, super-powered gorilla organizing other gorillas to action.
