Uncle Sam (02 - Sam Adams, 1800s) Real Name: Samuel Augustus Adams Search for 'Uncle Sam (02 - Sam Adams, 1800s)' on eBay Bio: A political cartoonist in 1870, Samuel A. Adams used Uncle Sam in his cartoons skewering Boss Tweed of Tammany Hall. Tweed had Adams shot in response. Adams then merged with the Spirit of America (his niece had given him the two pieces of the American Talisman as a gift) to become the first Uncle Sam of the DC Universe.
