Notes: This is a tricky character to include. He's basically born of a mistake. When LucasFilm couldn't produce concept sketches for Jabba the Hutt, Marvel faced a problem. They had to include the character, but they had no idea what he looked like. They also may have been given an incorrect spelling of the character's name. In any case, after biting the bullet and doing the best they could, Marvel had a problem on their hands. Lucas, after the fact, must have made it clear that "jabba the Hut" was not "Jabba the Hutt", because they in effect printed a retraction in the form of the story "What Ever Happened to Jabba the Hut?" in the pages of Star Wars (Marvel) #28. In this story, they explained that the person readers had seen in issue #2 was, in fact, Mosep, one of Jabba's accountants, who used the name "Jabba the Hut", to confuse delinquent debtors into paying the real Jabba. It was a nice attempt at a "save", at the time, but subsequent developments in the Star Wars universe have actually rendered this an unworkable notion. Given the fact that "Hutt" is the name of a species, and not an honorific title, no one but another Hutt could reasonably pose as Jabba. Thus, "Jabba the Hut" is a character utterly reduced to an out-of-continuity footnote.
