Bio: "Huntress" was the early name for this villain that was apparently retroactively named "The Tigress" (II). Before the Crisis she met the Sportsmaster and had a relationship with him. After the Crisis, this relationship turned into a fruitful union, producing her daughter, Artemis Crock. In the modern age, she passed the Tigress mantle to her daughter, who then went on to be Stargirl's most consistent nemesis. She is thus very much of a Crisis-survivor.
Notes: Some sources report that the name change to Tigress was "retroactive", and as having occurred in All-Star Squadron, before the Crisis. This would imply that the name change was not at all influenced by the Crisis and that her time as "Huntress" was a sort of typographical error on the part of the Gardner Fox Earth-1 character (since all Golden Age stories are recursively a fiction on Earth 1). Other sources, however, say the name change happened in the post-Crisis Young All-Stars #6 (1987), as a voluntary, deliberate name change on the part of the character. This would mean she did, indeed, live a part of her life as "Huntress". If anyone in possession of these books, and could shed further light on this confusing situation, we here at comicbookdb.com would be most grateful. As an editorial aside, though, logic almost demands that the name change have happened prior to the Crisis, because it would be extremely illogical for Helena Wayne to have chosen the name of a known criminal as her crimefighting alias. Until such time as definitive clarification arrives, use this character for all appearances prior to Young All-Stars #6, and Tigress (II) for all appearances after.
