Shamaz possessed some knowledge of magic, but the extent of which is not known.

Shamaz was an ally and confidant of Rama-Tut, being appointed as the Court Wizard by Rama-Tut. Along with Rama-Tut's knowledge of futuristic science, Shamaz was able to help stop Rama-Tut's aging process.

He also helped build a suspended animation chamber for Rama-Tut so he would be able to enter the chamber and get to the 20th century in order to stop the Swordsman from killing Kang (his divergent self) and to prevent him from capturing the Celestial Madonna (Mantis) and having powerful children with her.

Shamaz also stopped a fight between Rama-Tut's soldiers and the time travelling West Coast Avengers when they appeared in his time to seek the aid of Rama-Tut in fixing a broken time machine so they could get home to their present time. Shamaz didn't recongize them, but it wasn't the first time strange men and women had appeared on a flying square as the Fantastic Four had been to his time some years before.

Wether or not Shamaz was present during the Fantastic Four's trip to the past is not really clear (Fantastic Four #19). He was never mentioned by name, and as such, his first appearance is listed as one of known record where he was specifically stated by name and clearly identified in Giant-Size Avengers #2.

First Appearance: Giant-Size Avengers (1974) #2
