Celsius Real Name: Arani Desai Search for 'Celsius' on eBay Powers: In one hand, Celsius has powers over the cold. In the opposite hand, she has powers over heat. She can use either hand to fire super-heated or super-cooled projectiles at opponents. Bio: Arani Desai re-formed the Doom Patrol believing that Niles Caulder, whom she claimed was her husband, was alive, uniting with Cliff Steele, Joshua Clay, and Valentina Vostok to find him, eventually adding Rhea Jones, Wayne Hawkins, and Scott Fischer to the fold, and finding Larry Trainor, still in need of bandages but without the Negative Energy Being, which was in Vostok. Arani created a great deal of tension in the group, particularly in making the search for Caulder the primary mission of the team. When they finally find him, he insists that, while he did know her, that she is not his wife, but that he could not stop her from claiming his property while wanting to appear dead. Arani sacrificed her life to halt a Gil'Dishpan ship, even though she was told that her efforts would be useless by several other members of her team. Arani's funeral was interrupted by the Gene Bomb, which affected the team severely and created a new member in Crazy Jane. Notes: Arani's surname, Desai, was not revealed until Cliff Steele was making her funeral arrangements. The letters column of that issue noted that Arani merely had a crush on Caulder.
