The Sword (Chic Carter)
Real Name: Chic Carter
Search for 'The Sword (Chic Carter)' on Amazon

Bio:
Crime reporter who was good with a rapier.

Notes:
There's an unusual number of issues between the first appearance of Chic Carter, and the first appearance of The Sword. We find Chic first in Smash #1, but it takes until #24 for The Sword to come out. It was also quite typical for him to go for whole adventures after Smash #24 without donning The Sword's costume.

There is another Golden Age Sword out there, from Ace Publications. The only appearance currently known of this "other" Sword was in the final story of the final issue of Lightning Comics.

First Appearance: Smash Comics (1939) #1
