The Collective is initially a group of puffballs with a collective consciousness but only a rudimentary intelligence. Searching for his replacement, a Green Lantern decides to merge with the collective, providing it with full intelligence while imbuing it with the powers of his Green Lantern power battery. The result is a Green Lantern with an incredible number of pieces, described as being equivalent to "over one billion Green Lanterns!"
