Bio: When Johnny Thunder died as a result of the strain of being controlled by the Ultra-Humanite and being separated from the Thunderbolt, Jakeem Thunder asked Thunderbolt to bring him back to life. This could not be done as it would break the rules, but the genie did mix his soul with Johnny's to create an entirely new personality. The 2005 JSA story, "Lost and Found", appeared to show Johnny and his Thunderbolt getting a "divorce", but details on this were still a bit sketchy as of early 2006.
Notes: The distinction between this character and Johnny Thunder (02) is sort of a fine one, especially since there's no visual difference between the two. The above opinion is the subject of debate because Johnny Thunderbolt retains the facial features of Johnny Thunder (02) in his first appearance. This and the residual personality the Thunderbolt exudes distinguish him from the pre-amalgamated Thunderbolt. It's also sorta confusing because "Johnny Thunder" is the guy's real name, not just his "superhero" name. But basically, if you see anyone resembling Johnny Thunder in the 21st century, it's likely Johnny Thunderbolt--because he got his "origin" in JSA (1999). (It should also be pointed out that in his first appearance in 1940, Johnny was called "Johnny Thunderbolt".)
