Powers: Rachel Grey (Summers) has the same powers as Jean Grey (telepathy and telekinisis), enhanced by the Phoenix Force. She has at times hosted the Phoenix Force and been known, like her mother, as, simply, "Phoenix". As of 2006, though, she is one of the few mutants to retain her abilities in the wake of the events of House of M.Because of her time hosting the Phoenix Force, her powers were enhanced over those of her mother. In addition to the general "Grey" power-set, she also can physically time travel at will, and her level of telekenesis is an as-yet-undefined level more powerful than Jean Grey's.
Bio: This character's name and visual appearance has changed with some frequency since her introduction, hence the wide range of images to your right. Indeed, the transformation of her character, and her interaction with her mother, Jean Grey, and the Phoenix Force her mother has hosted on several occasions, comprise such a big part of X-Men lore that it would be impossible to write a comprehensive biography of this character without giving away the plots of huge swaths of the runs of several X-Men comics.
Suffice it to say that she is a mutant with the same powers as her mother, Jean Grey. Her father has been definitively found to be Scott Summers (Cyclops). However, she was conceived in an alternate, future universe and then brought to the modern, "regular" Marvel Universe. Nevertheless, the "regular" versions of Scott Summers and Jean Grey have accepted her unambiguously as their own child. At various points in her development, her relationship with these two parents has waxed and waned. As of 2006, her relationship with her father is strained enough that her earlier identity as "Rachel Summers" has been dropped in favor of calling herself "Rachel Grey".
Notes: It's worth pointing out that Claremont's original conception of the character was that it would be an androgynous, parent-less creation of the Phoenix Force.
Created by Chris Claremont, John Byrne, & John Romita Jr.
