Lyla Lerrol

Bio:
Kryptonian "emotion-movie" actress with whom Superman of Earth-1 fell in love on a pre-supernova-ed Krypton. Interestingly, Jor-El and Lara, not knowing that Superman was Kal-El, their as-yet-unborn son, played matchmaker between the two. When, ultimately, Superman had to return to the present, Lyla was left behind to die, as was her destiny, along with most of the rest of Krypton.

In Superman, vol. 1, #141, it is quite clear that Kal's love for Lyla is superior to his love for Lois (although, at this point, Lois doesn't know Clark's secret identity, nor are they anywhere close to marriage).

It is fascinating to note, however, that in Action #299, Supergirl returns to the bottle city of Kandor, where she walks down the Boulevard of Legendary Heroes. There, amongst statues to other Kryptonian gods is Lorra, the goddess of beauty. Supergirl notes that Lorra looks exactly like Lyla.

Notes:
Like some Kryptonian characters first introduced in the very early Silver Age, her name was made more conventionally Kryptonian during the Bronze Age. She was first introduced as the un-hyphenated Lyla Lerrol.
