Lt. Benjamin 'Ben' Hunter

Search for 'Lt. Benjamin 'Ben' Hunter' on Amazon

Excellent combatant and field leader.

Had been a homicide detective in civilian life. He was ordered to take several prisoners from an army prison stockade, all of whom had been criminals before joining the Army, and turn them into a special force of commandos. Although at first Hunter even had to use his fists at times to assert his authority over these men, he succeeded in turning them into a first-rate commando team. The Hellcats were often sent on suicide missions, yet in all of their reported adventures, they always returned. Lt. Hunter survived WWII and rose to the rank of Colonel.

In Creature Commandos (2000) and the stories of his sons Nick and Phil in Our Fighting Forces (1954) #99-106, Ben Hunter is called Lucius, although it is possible either Benjamin or Lucius is actually his middle name.

First Appearance: Our Fighting Forces (1954) #106
