Recognizable as being one of the only member of the Peanuts gang with a pony tail, Violet was Patty's best friend. She had a relatively under-developed personality, however, because she was often used as the "straight man" in gags. Her most defining characteristic might be that she is a relative snob. Her family seems to be a relatively wealthier one than others in the Peanuts gang. She is often seen bragging about her dad's relative social standing, especially picking on Charlie Brown's somewhat lower-class barber father.
However, this characteristic was not really enough to sustain her as a firm member of the cast. As other characters personalities flourished, she was gradually pushed out of the strip. In later years she became principally known as the third baseman on Charlie Brown's baseball team. Klassiker der Comic-Literatur (2005)
Violet was the "fifth Peanut", the first "new" character to join the cast after Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Shermy and Patty.
