Trauma (Marvel)(02 - Terrance Ward)
Real Name: Terrance Ward
Search for 'Trauma (Marvel)(02 - Terrance Ward)' on Amazon

Trauma is able to read the thoughts of others and shape-shifts into physical representations of the target's worst fears.

Trauma feels intense guilt about his mother's confinement in a psychiatric ward (which he blames on his manifestation of powers) and his distant relationship with his (step-)father.

Trauma's powers were imparted to him through some kind of magic. He cannot use them against people who have established a truce with the source of his powers.

If the target has no real fears, Trauma cannot defeat them.

Trauma can morph into weapons, but those weapons cannot leave his hands. This can be a give-away that he is not the "real" fear.

Trauma was amongst the first recruits of the new Initiative program put in place after the Civil War. At first, he was unable to control his powers; if he felt someone's fears, he morphed into that fear without being able to stop it.

After this inadvertently led to the death of one of the recruits in the program, MVP, Moonstar was brought in to help Trauma control his powers. Henry Gyrich thought that Moonstar did too well; not only did she teach Trauma to control his powers, but to use them to help others. Gyrich, who wanted to use Trauma's powers as a weapon, was displeased.

Trauma was sent to fight the Hulk, but he could not beat him because the Hulk had no real fears that Trauma could exploit. Hulk spared Trauma's life, but only so he could carry back a message to his handlers. Trauma, while healing from his wounds, decided that he wanted to become a counselor at the camp, and he was afforded the opportunity to do so.

Recently, Trauma attempted to resign from the Initiative after Norman Osborn came into power. He was outraged that Osborn wasn't helping mentally disturbed patients become better, but only "taming" them so he could use them for his own purposes. Trauma was forced to stay at the Initiative after being told that his mother's psychosis might be cured. He also learned the identity of his true father, a demon named Nightmare.
