Jane Francis

Search for 'Jane Francis' on Amazon

Powers:
Brave.

Weaknesses:
Basically unqualified to be the assistant of a professor of Readon's calibre.

Bio:
Jane was the assistant of Professor Carl Readon.

Notes:
Jane Francis is a curious character. Though one would've assumed that the character would've disappeared into the background after her introduction, she quickly, in narrative terms if not in fact, becomes The Doctor's assistant.

She (coincidentally?) looks, and fits the character profile, of Jo Grant. While Jo had yet to hit the airwaves when this story was published, she had been cast and was in the final stages of recording her first story. It certainly can be speculated that the TV Comic writers, who had to liaise with the Doctor Who production office may well have known about Jo when they wrote this character.
