Turoq is one of the Gods of the Arctic. He has been watching mankind for thousands of years. The land was once his, until man ceased to believe. He sits along with Hodiak and Nelvanna, the goddess of the Norhtern Lights. They reside in Paradise. To the ancient Innuit and Native Americans he was also called the "Nameless Shaper of life".
His eteneral rivals are the Great Beasts who have tried three times to conquer Earth and three times they were driven back. The last time they were sealed behind a barrier designed to keep them forever in the Realm of the Beasts. The battle cost the victors as much as the vanquished. The land-beast Tundra--concieved a counter-plan as the end approached. He created a magical vortex that spun the energies of the barrier back on their creators. As the Beasts were trapped in the Realm of the Beasts, the Northern Gods were trapped in Paradise. The Gods were able to beat the Great Beasts, by using their hatred for each other to overbalance their hatred for mankind and by doing so the Great Beasts attacked each other. At an unknown time the Northern Gods created the Wendigo curse, punishment for anyone who eats human flesh turning them into the Wendigo.
A thousand years later, Richard Easton placed Tundra's Headband on his head and the Elder Gods appeared. Nelvanna, the Goddess of the Northern Lights, stated she needed Richard Easton precious seed of humanity in order that she could give birth to a champion. He was reluctant due to Nelvanna's appearance and age. So the Shaper then transformed Nelvanna into a beautiful young woman. As the Shaper's power is to mask all things we would not wish seen or known or to grant the wildest fantasy. He does this by manipulating one's "true fires."
The champion that was born from the union of Richard Easton and Nelvanna was Snowbird and she was created for the purpose of fighting the Great Beasts, who would soon break free of the ancient mystical barriers which held them in place.
In the battle with Pestilence, Doug Thompson , Snowbird and Snowbird's Son were slain. During their funeral Talisman called forth the Northern Gods in order to ask if Snowbird could be welcomed once again into Paradise. Turoq was hesitant in allowing her to return, but Nelvanna welcomed her with open arms back into Paradise. Snowbird refused to go unless Doug Thompson and Snowbird's son's souls could rise with her. They eventually all agreed and all were welcomed. Turoq was last seen by mortal man when he appeared with the other Northern Gods to punish Mauvais.
